Visitor Regulations

THE CHURCH IS A PLACE OF PRAYER, A PRECIOUS LEGACY OF OUR ANCESTORS, AND A UNIQUE CULTURAL MONUMENT.

ALL VISITORS TO THE CHURCH ARE WARMLY WELCOMED, BUT WE KINDLY ASK THAT YOUR BEHAVIOR RESPECTS ITS SACRED NATURE AND THE SPECIAL PURPOSE OF THIS PLACE.

Inside the church, everyone present is obliged to follow the instructions of the authorized staff and the provisions of these visitor regulations.

Authorized staff members include: the parish priest, the church administrator, guides, sacristans, or other designated responsible persons authorized by the parish priest or administrator.

Access to the church is denied to:

  • persons under the influence of alcohol, addictive, or psychotropic substances
  • persons in inadequate, heavily soiled, or foul-smelling clothing
  • persons not respecting basic hygiene and social standards, or posing a health or other risk to other visitors
  • persons with animals (does not apply to guide and assistance dogs)

In the area of the church, terrace, and tower, it is not allowed to:

  • smoke
  • consume any food or drinks, except in the parish community center with its terrace
  • disturb other visitors with aggressive or otherwise inappropriate behavior
  • conduct church tours during church services or enter restricted areas
  • sell any goods, distribute promotional items or printed matter, or carry out any promotional activities not approved by the statutory representative of the parish or an authorized person
  • damage the church furniture or the church itself
  • cause noise disturbances (loud use of mobile phones and audio devices, talking, music, or other loud expressions, unless otherwise specified by an authorized person)
  • photograph people (service participants) or photograph the interior of the church using a tripod without the consent of an authorized person
  • make video or audio recordings without the consent of an authorized person

Persons failing to comply with the visitor regulations (including the appendix) will be asked to leave the church premises. The visitor regulations are also detailed in the appendix, which is available for review upon request from an authorized person.

In the event of a serious violation of the provisions of these visitor regulations and its appendix, or failure to respect the instructions of authorized personnel responsible for their enforcement, the matter will be handed over to the Czech Republic Police.

The premises are monitored by security cameras. By entering the premises, the visitor agrees to this fact.

of the Church of St. Margaret in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou

Appendix I.

Article 1 – VISITING SEASON
  1. The main visiting season lasts from April 1st to October 31st of the respective year.
  2. The site is accessible during the visiting season as follows: a) in April and October, the church will be open from Friday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Fridays only by prior telephone arrangement). b) from May to September, during the tourist season, the church will be open according to the opening hours of the state chateau, i.e., Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, or 5:00 PM respectively.c) outside the tourist season, from November to March, the church will be accessible from Monday to Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM by prior telephone arrangement, or at other times by prior agreement.
  3. Tours are not conducted during religious ceremonies, cultural events, and in other justified cases.
  4. Visiting the Church of St. Margaret in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou outside the designated visiting hours is possible only by prior arrangement with the church administrator.
Article 2 – ORGANIZATION OF THE VISITING OPERATIONS
  1. The ticket office located in the Church of St. Margaret in Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou opens at 9:00 AM and closes 30 minutes before the end of the church’s opening hours.
  2. The interval between individual tours is determined by the church administrator, limited by operational conditions and visitor safety. The time of the next available tour is always displayed on the sign at the ticket office during the main season. Tours generally begin on the hour.
  3. The tour is conducted by a guide in groups of a minimum of 4 people. The maximum number of visitors in one group is 40. Group sizes are based on the operational capabilities of the site and safety considerations. Exceptions are granted by the church administrator.
  4. Groups of more than 10 people can reserve a tour. This requires a prior agreement (in writing, by phone, or by e-mail) with the management of the Church of St. Margaret regarding the exact day and start time of the tour. If the reserved group does not report to the ticket office at least 10 minutes before the agreed tour time, they lose their right to the reserved tour. Pre-reserved groups have priority.
  5. Other visitors may join pre-reserved groups that do not meet the maximum tour capacity, up to the maximum limit.
  6. By entering the premises of the Church of St. Margaret, the visitor agrees to respect the visitor regulations, including the appendix, and the instructions of the staff and authorized persons of the Roman Catholic Parish of Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou.
Article 3 – TICKETS
  1. Admission for a tour of the accessible parts of the church premises is paid in advance, in cash (or electronically where possible), in Czech crowns (CZK) at the church ticket office. Admission fees are set by the price assessment valid for the respective year, issued by the Roman Catholic Parish. The assessment is available for inspection at the ticket office and in the church office. By purchasing a ticket, the visitor agrees to respect the instructions of the staff and authorized persons of the Parish.
  2. Visitors must request a discount unprompted when purchasing a ticket and prove their eligibility with a valid ID or document.
  3. After paying the admission fee, the visitor will receive a ticket (the group leader receives a group ticket) valid for the tour.
  4. The ticket becomes invalid if the visitor does not arrive in time for the start of the tour. Purchased tickets cannot be refunded.
  5. Visitors are obliged to keep the ticket for the entire duration of the tour and present it upon request at any time.
  6. Admission discounts are provided to children and youth from 6 to 18 years, students up to 26 years upon presentation of a valid student card, seniors from 65 years upon presentation of a valid ID, disability card holders upon presentation of a valid card, families with two or more children, and groups of 15 or more people with a single group payment.
  7. Free admission is granted to children under 6 years, priests and members of religious orders, accompanying persons for groups of over 15 people with a collective payment, accompanying teachers for a group of pupils or students over 15 people with a collective payment, and individuals permanently residing in the town of Jaroměřice nad Rokytnou upon presentation of an ID card, provided they bring at least one paying visitor with them.
Article 4 – TOURING THE CULTURAL MONUMENT
  1. Children under 15 years of age are allowed to enter the monument only when accompanied by adults who are responsible for ensuring their behavior complies with the visitor regulations and its appendix.
  2. The liability of the Roman Catholic Parish for any damages incurred by visitors is governed by generally binding legal regulations, including cooperation in dealing with the insurance company.
  3. Throughout the premises, visitors are obliged to exercise heightened caution, especially when moving on spiral staircases, in areas with narrowed or lowered profiles, and when walking on uneven and slippery surfaces, strictly observing health and safety principles.
  4. In the event of unforeseeable incidents (e.g., fire), visitors must strictly follow the instructions of the authorized person, including members of the integrated rescue system.
  5. The visitor must immediately report any injury or illness during the tour to the guide, who will arrange appropriate assistance.
Article 5 – PROTECTION OF CULTURAL MONUMENTS AND COLLECTION SAFETY
  1. Visitors are obliged to obey the instructions of the authorized person of the Roman Catholic Parish. Failure to follow an instruction or order issued in the interest of visitor safety, the protection of the building, or its collections will result in the visitor being expelled from the premises without a ticket refund, and they must leave immediately. Additionally, the visitor risks prosecution under generally binding legal regulations.
  2. Persons reasonably suspected of being drunk or under the influence of drugs are prohibited from entering the premises.
  3. Visitors are not allowed to enter the premises with weapons or animals (guide and assistance dogs excluded).
  4. Entry to the church premises is denied to visitors in heavily soiled, inadequate, or inappropriate clothing. The authorized person has the right to decide on this matter.
  5. Should any loss or damage to artistic and historical objects be discovered during a tour, all visitors present in the church premises at that time must comply with all security measures (including a personal search conducted by the Czech Republic Police).
  6. It is forbidden to damage or endanger the church premises in any way. In particular, it is prohibited to: a) touch walls and exhibited items, write or paint on walls, engrave into them, or damage them in any way, b) cause noise disturbances (loud use of mobile phones and audio devices, talking, music, or other loud expressions, unless otherwise stated by the responsible person) that disrupt the guide’s commentary and disturb the tour for others, c) record video during the guide’s commentary without prior agreement and permission from the authorized person, d) take photographs for commercial purposes without prior agreement and permission from the authorized person, e) make video and audio recordings without prior agreement and permission from the authorized person, f) smoke anywhere on the premises, or handle open flames and lighting throughout the entire site, g) eat, drink, or chew gum inside the church (exceptions apply to the church facilities with the terrace), or enter the church with ice cream, beverages, etc.

Failure to comply with the above conditions may result in expulsion from the tour without a refund. Soiling the church and the cost of its removal may be charged to the person who caused it.

  1. The visitor is liable to the authorized person of the Roman Catholic Parish for any violation of the visitor regulations and any damages caused.
  2. The premises are monitored by security cameras, which are intended exclusively for building security. The recording equipment is secured against unauthorized misuse. By entering the building, the visitor agrees to this fact.
  3. The building is protected against fire and monitored by a camera system. Unauthorized or false activation of the fire alarm system is subject to a fine of 10,000 CZK. The quantified costs of a false alarm involving the deployment of the Fire Rescue Service will be charged to the perpetrator.
  4. In justified cases, the church administrator or the parish priest may grant an exception to the visitor regulations.
Article 6 – OBSERVATION TOWER AND TERRACES
  1. The operation of the observation tower and terrace is governed by the provisions of the visitor regulations and its appendix.
  2. Admission to the tower is set by the price assessment valid for the respective year issued by the Roman Catholic Parish. The assessment is available for inspection at the ticket office and in the church office. By entering the tower and the church terrace, the visitor agrees to respect the instructions of the authorized persons of the Parish.
  3. The tower is protected against fire and monitored by a camera system. Unauthorized or false activation of the fire alarm system is subject to a fine of 10,000 CZK. The quantified costs of a false alarm involving the deployment of the Fire Rescue Service will be charged to the perpetrator.
  4. The admission fee is inserted into the turnstile in the tower. Bypassing the turnstile without paying the admission fee is penalized with a fine of 1,000 CZK (checked via camera records).
  5. The maximum number of visitors in the tower is 30. When this maximum capacity is reached, the turnstile is blocked, indicated by a red light and the number 0. Visitors must comply and wait to enter until the green light turns on again as leaving visitors are counted out.
  6. Entry to the tower is strictly prohibited:
    • with open flames (no smoking)
    • with food, and eating within the tower area
    • with animals (except guide dogs)
  7. Visitors are obliged to obey the instructions of the authorized person, including members of the integrated rescue system.
Article 7 – FINAL PROVISIONS
  1. Wishes, compliments, complaints, and suggestions can be submitted by visitors in writing directly at the site into the guestbook, which will be provided upon request by the church administrator, a guide, or an authorized person. Additionally, the visitor has the option to contact the Roman Catholic Parish and its statutory representative verbally, in writing, or by phone.
  2. These visitor regulations and Appendix I come into effect on January 1, 2026.
